The IT Professionals program has several paths students can take related to information Technology. First year students will concentrate on Hardware, Software, and Networking basics. This includes computer repair and troubleshooting PC’s and operating systems. Students work toward earning their PC Pro & A+ certifications in their first year. Second year students will also cover networking and learn basic Cisco router and switch configurations and protocols. Second year students are working toward earning their Network Pro certification. Students will have enough knowledge to be prepared for two-thirds of the CCNA certification. Students have access to work on their skills 24/7 through the “TestOut” website.

PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR

Instructor

Mr. Weeks began his teaching career in 2005 as a middle school mathematics teacher. He transitioned to PITSCO as a lab instructor where he facilitated his students on numerous hands-on labs. Before coming to Northland Career Center, Mr. Weeks became certified in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and instructed students in Design & Modeling as well as Automation & Robotics. Mr. Weeks was a robotics coach with FIRST Robotics Competition for four years at his previous school district. Mr. Weeks graduated from Missouri Western University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Park University with a Master of Science in Education, and University of Missouri with a Educational Specialist in Technology in Schools.

COLLEGE CREDIT

Students may earn up to 12 dual credit hours from Metropolitan Community College and up to 9 dual credit hours from the University of Central Missouri. Students may also earn 12 articulated college credit hours from Missouri Western State University.

INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIALS/OTHER CERTIFICATIONS

Students may earn TestOut PC Pro, TestOut Network Pro, CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network Plus.
